“It creates participatory opportunities for people of all ages to have fun and discover that drawing inspires creative thinking and helps us communicate with others,” says Shannon Huang, Development and Communications Manager of Ryman Arts.
The event is hosted by Ryman Arts, a 501 (c)3 organization that offers free professional studio art classes to Southern California high school youth. It’s part of a month-long celebration called The Big Draw LA where community organizations throughout Southern California partner with Ryman Arts to host art events and student exhibits.
Ryman Arts students will be on hand to assist attendees with available drawing activities, including: Tape Drawing, Styrofoam Printmaking, Sumi ink painting, Paper Airplanes, Drawing costumed models, Animation Station and Bicycle Decoration, among others.
There will be music and food trucks available during the festival. Families are encouraged to ride the Metro or their bikes to Make Their Mark in the Park!
