Cereal for Lunch? Only If You Want Good Conversation

A cool spot for morning crunch, mid-day munch or evening honeybunch.

LA’s newest Cereal Bar has been open for less than a month but it’s quickly becoming a hot spot (with cold milk).

The café, named Cereal & Such, is a tiny establishment located in the back lot of Virgil Normal, a men’s clothing & gift shop in Silver Lake. The two guys behind Cereal & Such, Theo Martins and his friend “Free” moved to LA several years ago and came up with the concept having gained inspiration from a trip to Japan.

On the Menu: six different cereal varieties, three types of milk (regular 2%, almond milk & coconut milk); coffee and tea. The cereal is served in plastic to-go containers for $4 and it’s meant to encourage customers to sit, relax and have a conversation of “arts, culture and of course, cereal.”

People can arrive between 11am and 6pm to get their fix of Lucky Charms, Cocoa Puffs and good conversation, which isn’t hard considering the business owners have musical inclinations and creative talents.

Loyalty cards reminding people to “Eat More Cereal” will get you a free bowl after 10 visits.
