Enjoying Motherhood After 40

Victoria Infante is a journalist from Mexico living in Los Angeles and raising her two young boys, Victor Santiago & Jorge Mario, whom she had after turning forty-years-old. Her Spanish-language blog, Ser Mama Latina, or Being a Latina Mom, takes readers through her journey with staying active and energized and lets other moms know her opinion on local museum exhibits, new children’s books, movies and “whatever the heck” she feels like writing about. But as if meeting the demands of the newsroom and writing a blog while raising her boys wasn’t enough, Victoria managed to obtain a Master’s Degree in Spanish Linguistics and along with her partner, launched her own line of soft leather baby shoes called CHUS.

“The idea came to us while desperately trying to find the softest and more comfortable pair of little shoes that would also protect the delicate skin of a newborn….inspired by the types of shoes worn by our ancestors –espadrilles, sandals, moccasins– we designed this product, made with the softest leather,” she says on her CHUS website.

What inspired you to become a blogger?

The need to write my own opinions and thoughts about motherhood and other personal interests. As a Journalist, I write about others’ stories. As a blogger, I write about myself and tastes.

What is your proudest Mommy Blogger Moment?

To be able to write about two things I’m passionate about: Children’s books in Spanish and museums.

What’s your favorite place to take the kids in LA?

I have several: California Science Center, Skirball Center, Getty Museum, Natural History Museum, Griffith Park, Kidspace Museum in Pasadena, Zimmerman Museum, LA Zoo.
