A Lovely Vy en Rose
Vy Robles is a full-time working mommy (She’s a project manager for marketing campaigns) who has been writing about her lifestyle experiences as a hobby way before blogging became so popular.
She lives in Los Angeles with her son and husband and manages to bring us wonderful stories with charming images on everything from fitness and difficult moments in motherhood to unique Los Angeles sights and scenes. She also writes open letters to little Dominic (her adorable son).
Her blog, La Vy en Rose truly makes us feel like listening to French singer Edith Piaf’s “La Vie En Rose” (Life in Pink) and visit pretty places with a glass of pink champagne.
She offers moms a chance to look at the pretty, simple side of things even when life in Los Angeles can be so busy, and hectic!
Keep on rockin’, mama!
What inspired you to become a blogger?
I’ve been into blogging since I was much younger – back when Xanga was up-and-coming (does this date me too much?). I used to blog on it every single day. Once Facebook came around, I shared most of my stories and photos on there which started to make my blog obsolete. Well, after a few years, I realized how much I really missed writing and going back to read old posts, so I decided to jump back into blogging. By then, I realized the culture had changed immensely! This made me want to curate the kind of blog that not only my friends and family could enjoy, but also readers who stumble upon my page could enjoy and feel inspired by. There’s so much joy
family and adventure can bring.
What is your proudest Mommy Blogger Moment?
I have a post titled “Miscarriage and What It Taught me” which revealed my story of
miscarriage and all of the little life lessons that came with it. It’s currently my most read post, but that part is not my biggest win. The part that made this share everything to me is all of the women that reached out to me to talk – some about my story, some about theirs.
Despite how common miscarriage can be, I don’t think it’ll ever be an easy story to tell, and my hope of at least having one woman feel less isolated by their story by sharing mine was everything.
What’s your favorite place to take the kids in LA?
When it comes to being indoors, I love the California Science Center; it’s a great space
to get kids curious about the world around them but still has plenty of space to run around. We definitely love the parks and easy hikes to get us outdoors – helps us slow down and soak up the sunshine.
What’s your favorite LA hang out without the kids?
My husband and I have been enjoying the live music at the Hollywood Bowl, but most of the
time we like to find local eats and spend our kidless time trying out restaurants that aren’t as kid-friendly 🙂 It’s one of the things I’m most proud of with LA being my home – it’s the diversity, and it is evident when you have so much amazing food!
What’s your best motherhood advice?
Trust your gut. Trust your gut. Trust your gut! Every child is different, and since you spend most of your time bonding with your child, you know what’s best for them. No books or “how-tos” will hold the answer to everything. A lot of it truly is instinct, so listen closely to yourself.
