jan’s spring!

When Janet Gomez first thought about creating a blog, her fears and nerves got the best of her. She didn’t act on her blogging plans and instead continued focusing on her career as a fashion merchandiser in Downtown Los Angeles. Three years later, Janet gave birth to her daughter Julianna (currently 2-years-old) and by that time, she had gathered all the necessary motivation and courage to launch Jan’s Spring, a fun and heartfelt blog that offers plenty of Lifestyle, Party, Fashion and Entertainment goodness.

The South Gate Mommy often posts about life in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter. She has taken her readers through Julianna’s milestones, including her Minnie-themed 1st birthday and very personal situations of loss and mourning.  In her blog, she also shows us everything from recipes for vegetarian tacos, to getaways to Big Bear.

Janet is a classy mom with a darling daughter and an entrepreneurial spirit. After numerous business venture ideas, she finally found a perfect business partner (Rudy Medina) to establish an LA Mom blogger & event network called L.A. Mamacitas.

“Once L.A. Mamacitas came into my life, I felt like my true calling had finally come to me,” says Janet.

A few weeks ago, a successful L.A. Mamacitas Summer Family Party took place with unique vendors, sponsors and dozens of influencers in attendance. It was a clear revelation that L.A. Mamacitas is a promising organization with many more events to come.

You can read all about the LA Mamacitas Summer Family Party right here.

Congratulations, Mama! We’re excited to see you grow your blog, your business and your network.

What inspired you to become a blogger?

I’ve been wanting to start blogging about 5 years ago and barely started about 2 years ago. I have always loved fashion, and the reason for wanting to start a blog and just never did was due to fear and nerves. Once I had Julianna, she was the ultimate drive that I needed to start it!

What is your proudest Mommy Blogger Moment?

I think this really has to be the moment I shared a very personal story that I had been wanting to share for the last year and a half but never did. The support and love I got back was overwhelming. Life is not pretty…not perfect and I realized you must always share the ugly to be relatable to people. It was a beautiful moment for me to see how much support you can get by sharing your story and so many people might be going through similar situations as you.

What’s your favorite place to take the kids in LA?

Disneyland of course!!! haha We have the annual pass so we definitely take advantage of it. Even if it’s only for a couple of hours to kill, Julianna loves it and we love watching her have such a great time.

What’s your favorite LA hang out without the kids?

The hottest restaurants in LA. We love trying new foods and restaurants and it’s so hard to go to a quiet place with the kids, so when possible, a trendy restaurant with some yummy cocktails!

What’s your best motherhood advice?

I am the type that over-stresses and over-thinks about everything!! I sometimes want to get so much done and the same time which is impossible. Try to get a handle on what you have control over at the moment. Make a list of things that need to get done and prioritize.
