A new museum is arriving in Glendale and it promises to give you many reasons to love yourselfie even more.

The Museum of Selfies, opening in April, will embrace pop culture’s obsession with selfies by exploring the history and cultural phenomenon of the selfie, which is said to date back 40,000 years. It will also feature interactive installations like a “bathroom selfie” area and a place for guests to take a “food selfie”.

The three LA guys behind the Museum of Selfies, Tair Mamedov, Tommy Honton and Abylay ZhaKashov, say the exhibit offers much more than just fun opportunities for guests to capture their faces on camera, again and again.

“Over a million selfies are uploaded to social media every day. Whether you think they’re the most amazing thing ever or the low point of human culture, selfies have a firmly-cemented place in our modern society, but also have roots going back to the most ancient and primal aspects of our species,” the museum website explains.

Guests will be encouraged to increase their selfie inventories, especially considering the museum will gladly welcome selfie sticks, cameras and cell phones.

Tickets for the Museum of Selfies are $25. And even though it won’t be open for another several weeks, selfie lovers seem to have taken interest already–– opening day is sold out.
