Mom Blogger Monday: April Maranan

MommyApes!

April Maranan is an elementary school teacher who loves to enjoy Southern California with her husband and daughters, Quinn Lana, 6 and Kyla Rey, 2.

She documents her fun adventures as “MommyApes” (short for Mommy April), on Instagram as well as her Facebook page and Youtube channel, where she informs fellow mommies about things to do in Southern California and shares fun unboxing videos.

April grew up in West Covina and currently lives in Chino. But her love for Los Angeles is loud and clear in many of her posts! She says she’s slightly obsessed with Tokidoki and Hello Kitty (we are too).

When April’s getting ready to plan a vacation, “My favorite place to travel to is Hawaii!,” she says. Oh! And did we mention she’s a cake decorator too?

What inspired you to become a blogger?

I was inspired to become a blogger after following other mommy bloggers. During my college years, blogging was my niche. As I “grew up” blogging was put on the side. It wasn’t until I had my second daughter that I started sharing more of myself, as a mother, to the world after going thru Post-Partum Depression and Anxiety.

What is your proudest Mommy Blogger Moment?

One of my proudest Mommy Blogger Moment is meeting Jamie Grayson, The BabyGuyNYC. He has been an inspiration to me as a baby gear guru. I have been fortunate enough to be a contributor to his and his sister’s parenthood site, “Parental Guidance.” (https://parental.guidanceguide.com)

What’s your favorite place to take the kids in LA?

Disneyland (we go at least once a month) and The Grove and Farmer’s Market in LA

What’s your favorite LA hang out without the kids?

Hollywood Blvd. and Pasadena area (Colorado Blvd.) because it reminds me of living in the LA area pre-kids!

What’s your best motherhood advice?

It’s okay to ask for help. We are all Super Moms in our own way, but parenthood can be chaotic at times and a little help goes a long way. We don’t have to do everything by ourselves. Just breathe.
