BENEFITING THE L.A. KITCHEN
Foodie Con, the second annual, two-day shopping and food sampling event featuring local vendors and breweries kicked off Saturday, April 7 with a gathering of LA’s most faithful culinary enthusiasts.
Held at Magic Box @ The Reef in Downtown Los Angeles, Foodie Con gave attendees the chance to interact with tastemakers, discover and purchase new food trends, and experience cuisine and cocktails.
Also available at this year’s Foodie Con– hands-on cooking classes, food-themed retail booths, food and product demonstrations, and even a silent disco.
.Foodie Con partnered with L.A. Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that operates under the belief that neither food nor people should ever go to waste.
By reclaiming healthy, local food that would otherwise be discarded, training men and women who are unemployed for jobs, and providing healthy meals to fellow citizens, L.A. Kitchen is known for empowering, nourishing, and engaging the community.
During the first day of Foodie Con, hosted talks and demonstrations featured BuzzFeed’s Tasty producer, Alix Traeger; Nomiku CEO, Lisa Q. Fetterman; Lisa Griffiths of iGourmet.com; Jessica Sheeran of SakéOne, among others.
Cooking Classes were presented by Sur La Table with class options including homemade mozzarella, Guilt Free Noodles, Risotto 101, Sunday Brunch, and The Cauliflower Swap. Tickets are still available for the second day of Foodie Con at www.FoodieCon.org.
