Annual celebration of adaptive and Paralympic sports

The 4th annual Angel City Games, the leading adaptive sports festival in the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, returns this year to UCLA from June 21-24.

This year’s Games will offer five Adaptive Sports Competitions, five Sports Clinics, an Awards Gala (Thursday, June 21), Great Games Family Cookout (Friday, June 22), Celebrity Wheelchair Basketball Game (Saturday, June 23), and an expanded Fun Zone for kids.

“This special four-day event celebrates those with physical disabilities and gives them a platform to be active, connect with the community, and showcase their talents on the court, field, pool, or track,” said Clayton Frech, founder of Angel City Sports. “In just a few years, we’ve built the Angel City Games into one of the country’s premiere adaptive sports events. We look forward to welcoming athletes from all over the world to celebrate adaptive sports and what’s possible for anyone with a physical disability.”

Launched in 2015 and sanctioned by Adaptive Sports USA, Angel City Games is an annual celebration of adaptive and Paralympic sports and an inclusive competition open to athletes of all skill levels who have physical or visual impairments. These include, but are not limited to: amputation, spinal cord injury, paraplegia, quadriplegia, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, blindness or visual impairment, TBI or head injury, stroke, muscular dystrophy, neuromuscular/orthopedic conditions, limb difference, brachial plexus, and dwarfism or short stature.

The Games serve hundreds of adaptive athletes from across Southern California, in addition to myriad participants who travel from all over the country and abroad to join in each year. Participants include beginner to elite adults, military veterans, active-duty military personnel, and children.

Tickets are $10 (suggested donation). Registration fees for athletes 17 and under who reside in one of Southern California’s eight counties are FREE thanks to the LA84 Foundation. Registration fees for Veterans are FREE thanks to the Department of Veterans Affairs and Adaptive Sports USA. Registration for all other participants is open and fees are donation-based.
