2010-2018

Today, the beauty world mourns Urban Decay’s beloved Naked Palette, the product that revolutionized neutral eyeshadows.

A little bit naughty, often dramatic, and always in the press, the innovative game-changer and category creator will be laid to rest after eight years, without a smudge of regret. Passionate NAKED collectors — and pretty much anyone with eyes — will remember NAKED as the beauty product that changed their lids forever. It was beautiful and mythical and millions of superfans, from misfits to moms to models, will miss NAKED from Virgin to Gunmetal.

Wende Zomnir and Urban Decay conceived NAKED in 2010. The now famous, infamous and eponymous flow of champagne-inspired neutral tones, came to life after Wende asked her product development team for the four eyeshadow shades they would bring to a desert island. After seeing the assortment of beautiful nudes, almost instantaneously, NAKED was born.

“Saying goodbye to NAKED is extremely bittersweet,” says Zomnir, founding partner of Urban Decay. “It was a big moment in our history. It’s a little painful to leave your past behind, but it’s also essential to always evolve. I will forever miss NAKED, but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in NAKED’s memory and honor — just wait and see.”

NAKED went straight from its infantile stage to instant star power. No one can deny it ran in the fast track — every six seconds, someone bought one. Forbes called it “the iPhone of Makeup.” NAKED was a hustler at heart. It made over $1 billion since 2010. To this day, over 30 million NAKED Palettes have been sold and Urban Decay remains one of the top eyeshadow brands in the world.

The funeral is being held today in Newport Beach, CA in a nude-colored field with badasses and beauty influencers alike. Kandee Johnson, Christen Dominique, Katy DeGroot, Shayla Mitchell & Chrisspy will all be in attendance, with a eulogy by Nicole Richie.

Waterproof mascara required.
