Alvarez Adventures!
Lorena Alvarez always knew that exposing her children to different places, people and cultures would help them become more accepting and humble adults.
But what she didn’t know was that, by sharing her family’s experiences exploring, visiting and dining at different Los Angeles County establishments, the local news media would take notice and invite her to share the adventures with a greater audience.
“ABC-7 featured and praised our Instagram page on the Eyewitness News show!” recalls Lorena who lives in West Covina with her husband and two sons Lorenzo, 6 and Ayden, 9. “They invited our family to the studio!”
Her live TV show appearance on ABC-7 increased her number of followers but also her motivation to keep sharing.
Then Lorena’s ability to report local events caught the attention of a local newspaper.
Currently, she’s a writer for San Gabriel Valley Now and she’s going to school full-time to study journalism.

“I love to dance! I love to sing!,” she says. “My passion is to help my Spanish speaking community.”

What inspired you to become a blogger?
I wanted to share ideas and places to go in Los Angeles and beyond for families. I strongly believe that the experiences we have as children help shape us as adults. When children are exposed to different types of experiences, locations, people, culture, and situations, I believe it will help them to be more accepting, humble, and well rounded.
What’s your favorite place to take the kids in LA?
It’s hard to pick one, I have so many!
We often go to The Grove. They offer family fun on the grass area. They have great stores for shopping and our favorite restaurants. We can watch a movie at the theater. Best of all, we love grabbing some ice cream and choosing from an unlimited amount of snacks, fruits, desserts and dishes at the farmers market!
What’s your favorite LA hang out without the kids?
We LOVE the beach! We can spend the whole day playing in the water and sand. We like setting up our tent and picnic or BBQ for lunch and then heading out to the pier and downtown for shopping and dinner.
What’s your best motherhood advice?
No matter what other people say or do, always follow your own instincts. You are the one who knows what’s best for your kids. on
