Miss Mommy LA

As an LAUSD Middle school teacher, Natalie Berghoudian has made it a point to teach her students about the harmful effects of bullying. She founded an organization for girls at her school called “The Kind Club” and two years later, she has over 100 active members who follow her lead in completing acts of kindness such as collecting goods for homeless youth and leaving kind notes for people around campus and hospitals.

Natalie is also a mom of 15-month-old Isabella and she’s currently expecting her second baby, a boy named Nicholas, due in early March. As a way to help fellow moms-to-be along the pregnancy and post-partum journey, she recently launched her blog, Miss Mommy L.A.

“There are so many questions that come up when you are trying to conceive, during pregnancy, and when you are raising your kids – and I want to help moms along this amazing journey!,” says Natalie.

The Encino Mommy loves to travel and experience new countries, cultures and people.

“My dream is to visit my home country, Armenia. I would love to share that experience with my children one day,” she says.

We love your energy and motivation to spread kindness in L.A., Natalie. And we love your blog! Thanks for sharing.

What inspired you to become a blogger?

As a parent in today’s world, I am constantly researching online when making important decisions that involve my children. Previous generations relied on their family members to provide this information. Most of which was not backed by research – but rather trial and error or family beliefs/traditions. I became a blogger because I wanted to share my own experiences with other mothers (and mothers-to-be).

What is your proudest Mommy Blogger Moment?

My proudest moment has been having people I know personally, and ones that I have met online, tell me that one of my blog posts has helped them. For example, a family member of mine reached out to me about her own struggles with trying to conceive. I had no idea that she was trying or that she was having difficulties! I am so glad that she reached out to me and that I was able to support her during this difficult time in her life. My goal with this blog is to help other moms, and it made me very proud to know that I was doing that just by sharing my own journey!

What’s your favorite place your daughter in L.A.?

I love taking my toddler to any local park. She loves being outdoors, chasing after ducks, meeting new dogs, and enjoying the playground.

What’s your favorite L.A. hang out without the kids?

High Rooftop Lounge – Venice Beach. Amazing views, food and drinks.

What’s your best motherhood advice?

Motherhood is not easy – for anyone! Don’t let perfect photos and stories on social media fool you. It is hard work. But, it is also the most rewarding job in the world. You will have days where you feel like an absolute failure. You are not alone. Motherhood can feel lonely, so do make sure to reach out to friends, family, or an online community. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Make sure you have your village – whether it’s a few people or virtual – and don’t be afraid to ask for help!
