Pop-up Then Popcorn

To celebrate the premiere of the Secret Life of Pets 2, Universal Studios – in partnership with Grandesign Experiential – is extending the adventures of Max and his favorite furry friends beyond the big screen and onto the floors of an LA-based movie theater. Beginning on the movie’s release date through July 7, movie-goers have an opportunity to enjoy the pop-up experience featuring six different interactive stations for an additional small fee.

Snapshot of activations below:

• Flip Book – Using a green screen backdrop, fans will record themselves performing alongside Chloe, Buddy or Daisy for a branded take home flip book animation.

• Hamster Wheel – A life-sized hamster wheel will allow fans to get inside the cage for an Instagram-worthy photo moment.

• Peek-A-Boo Wall – The 20-foot brownstone building – where the pets call home – was created for people to peek through various windows and mail slots to view exclusive movie clips.

• Let’s Play Fetch – Fans will test their ball catching abilities by playing a custom designed Microsoft Kinect game. Fans will move their head in all directions to catch as many tennis balls – and busy bees – as they can in 60 seconds.

• Dog Toy Making Station – A hands on arts and craft station will give dog lovers the opportunity to create their own colorful custom dog tug toys.

• Leash Photo Op – Fans will take their picture against a backdrop where they will appear to hold three leashes and walk Buddy, Max and Duke.
