Magic Keys are Coming Back but only for renewals

After much speculation over whether Disneyland would make annual passes available again, the Happiest Place on Earth has spoken. The response is a chEARful yes.

The announcement was made via the Disneyland website this week. While there will not be new Magic Key sales at this time, Disneyland will allow people who are current Magic Key holders to renew and/or upgrade to a different type of pass. This latest offering will become available on August 18.

To put things in perspective, here’s what we know about the new Magic Key Pass program—

  • It will be more expensive to enjoy the Mouse House on a frequent basis. Yes, it’s clear the Happiest Place on Earth may also be the Most Expensive Park on Earth with price hikes starting at $50 above previous Magic Keys.

  • There are no passes that will offer 365-day park access. In other words, even the highest tier will have blockout dates.

  • On the brighter side, new features include free PhotoPass downloads and discounts on the Disney Genie+ service.

  • The two lowest tiers will receive parking discounts.

Inspire Key

Total Cost: $1,599 / Monthly Payment for SoCal Residents: $133.25

  • Reservation-based admission to one or both theme parks most days of the year, subject to availability of park reservations allocated to Magic Key passes, applicable pass blockout dates, and the Magic Key Terms and Conditions

  • Hold up to 6 theme park reservations at a time****

  • 20% off the purchase of Disney Genie+ service (subject to limited availability) on days when you use your pass for park admission.* View important information about Disney Genie+ service

  • Coming Soon – Unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital photo downloads***
