Skorchcake!

There are many cool things about Katie B.

She’s a mommy. She has traveled the world.  And three years ago, she began writing about nail art on her blog, www.Skorchcake.com.

“I originally started this blog to showcase my love of all things nail polish! I wanted to share my reviews, nail art designs and opinions with like minded polish lovers,” she says. “Glitter makes me extremely happy, as does anything shiny or sparkly.”

The British mommy from Playa Vista has visited nearly two dozen countries. She worked as a flight attendant for Virgin Atlantic when she met her husband.

In 2010 she moved to Los Angeles and eventually switched careers. She’s currently a content marketing manager for a company that actually works with bloggers.

Katie’s also raising her gorgeous 10-month old baby girl, Aurelia. And her blog has evolved into a lifestyle blog where she plans on sharing more on motherhood, yummy eats, LA experiences and beauty!

Congratulations Mama! We look forward to watching your blog grow and anxiously anticipate reading fun posts that only a mom with a unique U.K. perspective can bring to LA!

What inspired you to become a blogger?

I’ve always loved to write and find blogging to be a great creative outlet. I work with a lot of influencers as part of my job and they inspired me to start my blog and share my life with the world.

What is your proudest Mommy Blogger Moment?

Being asked by a popular nail polish brand to contribute to an Oscars post. I’d followed this brand for years and to be noticed for my work was so exciting and fun.

What’s your favorite place to take the kids in LA?

One of the many parks in Playa Vista. There are so many here and they are all kid friendly and beautiful. Bonus, there’s a Starbucks within walking distance so I can head over with my coffee.

What’s your favorite LA hang out without the kids?

Moules frites in Culver City at Meet Me in Paris followed by drinks at the Culver Hotel.

What’s your best motherhood advice?

It sounds like a cliche but trust your gut and don’t doubt yourself. You know best what your child needs! I’ve had so many situations this first year where I wished I’d gone with my instincts and not listened to others.
