German doctor Guther Von Hagens invented something called plastination in 1977. It was a process by which he replaced a body’s water and fat with certain plastics and was able to preserve it without decay or smell. The creation was a worldwide phenomenon as people were able to see the human anatomy like never before. And now through February 20, 2018, Angelenos can see it for themselves.

The “BODY WORLDS: Pulse” Exhibition at the California Science Center brings together anatomy and the latest health and wellness findings in a visually compelling display. More than 200 plastinated specimens, which include, whole bodies, body configurations, translucent body slices and organs are currently being presented in galleries that showcase the different systems of the body.

There are also 3-D displays as well as an interactive display called the “Anatomical Mirror” which shows visitors how vital organs are positioned in their own body.

Kids are welcome to visit although judging by some of the pictures, the younger ones may not be too impressed. You decide.
