BUG, BEE and ME

Deejay Washington has motivational words for moms in Los Angeles:

“Being a parent is hard, being a mommy is harder and working while doing it makes the task seem impossible,” she says. “However… We, as women, were born to do this!”

The full-time working mommy is a corporate Sr. Tech Advisor living in Long Beach who’s raising her two young kids, Hendrix, 2 and Nova, 6 months, while blogging about her mommy journey. She has nicknamed her kids Bug and Bee respectively and you can read all about the adorable pair on her blog, BugBeeandMe.com (labeled ‘Life With Littles’).

DeeJay’s posts are honest and informative, like when she shared “Why My Kids Get Sweets Once A Year” and “Boy Mom Problems” about the quirks and adventures of living through a toddler boy’s phase of body discovery.

What inspired you to become a blogger?

I love writing. I’ve had a personal blog for years but once I became a mother I became all about my kids. I came to the realization that I could combine my love for both (my kids and my writing) in one place which birthed ‘Life With Littles.” I get to share my passion with everyone who is willing to read and share in my adventures

What is your proudest Mommy Blogger Moment?

My proudest mommy blogger moment would have to be this moment. Being reached out to by you guys for a feature. The acknowledgement for my work and me sharing my personal experiences is such an honor!

What’s your favorite place to take the kids in LA?

The beach is our favorite place to be. Specifically Manhattan Beach. Luckily it’s pretty much summer all year out here so you can make almost any day a beach day!

What’s your favorite LA hang out without the kids?

Our favorite hangout is probably tied between the Huntington Library in San Marino or the Aquarium of the Pacific in long beach. The kiddos love seeing all the fishes swim by in the large tanks and on a pretty day the gardens at the Huntington library are a perfect place to have a picnic and learn about some great art!

What’s your best motherhood advice?

There’s no such thing as being perfect. You are going to make mistakes, you’re going to get frustrated, you’re going to want to scream, cry and yell. It is OKAY! You are human, and at the end of the day we’re all trying to make it through the day and raise amazing human beings. Happy kids is the ultimate goal!
