reDiscover Center to Open Cardboard City at Westfield Century City this Summer

An opportunity for youth and adults to explore their creativity

An interactive exhibit evolving throughout the summer

Cardboard City, an annual innovative pop-up art center produced by reDiscover Center announced its third summer opening which will take place on July 21, in partnership with Westfield Century City.

The unique museum-style exhibition will include large scale sculptures, massive collaborative art installations, cardboard costuming, skills building classes, and community connections.

Cardboard City visitors can enjoy inspirational works by LA-based artists, make cardboard creations of their own, collaborate with artists-in-residence, and will also have an opportunity to visit the Cardboard City gift shop.

The interactive exhibit evolves throughout the summer as the artists-in-residence create new works each week, incorporating elements created in partnership with Cardboard City participants. This rare opportunity allows for youth and adults to come together to explore their creativity.

In addition to the free components at the space, there will also be select paid programming taking place throughout the summer. A full-time staff of Teaching Artists will be available to help guide and inspire participants as they exercise their creative expression using cardboard – a ubiquitous and environmentally sustainable material.

Cardboard City’s grand on Friday, July 21 will be held at 12PM, with special guests and giveaways from reDiscover Center.

This year’s participating artists include Marcus Kuiland-Nazario, Little Ricky, Josh Abarbanel, Amorette Crespo of Party Girl Pinatas, Yeltsin Penado, Emeka Simmons, Ken Mori, Sarah Foelske, Jennifer Racusin, Julianna Ostrovsky and Karl Petion.
