UNIQUE MARKETS, an exciting two-day shopping event that curates hundreds of the best local designers, artists and emerging brands to support small business and the local economy is returning to Los Angeles on Saturday, August 5, from 10am to 4pm at DTLA’s California Market Center.
Shoppers can count on finding one-a-kind products including clothing & accessories, stationery, jewelry, housewares, art, gourmet foods, wellness & apothecary, books, photography and kids & baby gifts.
Unique Markets was started by community leader, and former HGTV design personality, Sonja Rasula in December 2008 to showcase talented independent designers and small businesses in Los Angeles long before the #shopsmall movement even existed. “We’ve held pop-up markets all around the country including NYC, Portland, DC, Boston, SF, Austin, Minneapolis and more,” says spokeswoman Lauren Montgomery.
“We’ve showcased over 13,000 small businesses including now-global brands Hedley & Bennett, P.F. Candle Co, and Tea Drops, who all sold at Unique Markets when starting their companies!”
The pop-up market will feature interactive activities to make shopping fun and unique for all, including free DIY crafts, portraits, a family games zone, DJs, a cafe and lounge, and more. Shoppers will have an opportunity to meet and buy directly from the artists and small business owners while they enjoy breathtaking views of LA’s skyline from the California Market Center’s beautiful 10th floor.
The annual summer market’s presenting sponsor is Vista Print (www.vistaprint.com), an online print company whose mission is to help us to empower, inspire and grow small businesses.
Tickets are available online and at the door— $15 general admission (kids under 14 free) / $20 all-weekend pass. Admission includes a limited-edition tote bag, free drinks from Liquid Death and Topo Chico, portraits with Oh! Snap Studios, and more.
