South Bay Mommies & Daddies

When companies are looking to market their brands and products to parents in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County, they reach out to media and marketing strategist (and bonafide #bossmom) Laura Stotland.

Laura who lives in Redondo Beach, is the founder and editor-in-chief of South Bay Mommies & Daddies, an online resource for parents that includes a community blog, a local business directory, an event calendar and other fun sections for SoCal moms and dads.

Laura’s website is popular— she has numerous contributors that post local content and she even offers special discounts on her site to family-friendly activities and services. Our favorite? A section called “Giving Back” where parents are encouraged to support social welfare organizations and engage in activities that help the community.

A former employee of the Walt Disney Company and Clear Channel Radio (now iHeart Media), Laura is a very analytical media expert who knows what parents need. Plus, she can work a red carpet like no other.

She launched South Bay Mommies and Daddies after the success of a Facebook group she created when her son was born (more on that later).

Her kids, David, 5 and Leah, 1, keep her busy but multi-tasking has always been Laura’s thing. Yassssss.

You rock, Mama!

What inspired you to become a blogger?

Happened by accident. When my son was born, some friends & I created a Facebook group to connect and ask all those mom questions. It has since grown to over 8500 moms and people were asking the same questions over and over. So I saw an opportunity to create a resource where local moms could find everything they needed in one place.

What is your proudest Mommy Blogger Moment?

When I got my first sponsor! I felt like my hard work was literally starting to pay off.

What’s your favorite place to take the kids in LA?

We have annual passes to Disneyland, so we make many trips there during the year.

What’s your favorite LA hang out without the kids?

Burke Williams Day Spa… It’s my happy place – just saying 😉

What’s your best motherhood advice?

This too shall pass. Being a mom can be very challenging. We are balancing a lot and usually with a lack of sleep. Focus on the good moments and breath through the tough ones. Time goes so fast, it’s sad to think they’ll be out of the house before we know it! 🙁
